Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for July 4. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Our hosts and analysts will be all over the MLB, which is why it pays to be a VSiN Pro subscriber.

Saturday Player Prop Best Bets

Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Saturday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.

Parker Messick Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+109) vs. White Sox

White Sox at Guardians – 7:10 pm ET

Messick had just five strikeouts in his last outing, which was a major dip after having struck out a combined 19 batters in his previous two starts. However, one of those starts was a 10-K outing against this White Sox team, so I’m happy to throw out what we saw against the Rangers. I like Messick to continue his success against this Chicago team, going Over 6.5 strikeouts. It might not look exactly like the last start, but I’ll take seven at plus-money odds. The White Sox have a strikeout rate of 25.0% against lefties.

Hunter Greene Over 15.5 Outs Recorded (+120) vs. Orioles

Orioles at Reds – 7:10 pm ET

This will be Greene’s first start of the season, so it’s a little risky to be expecting him to work deep in a game. However, in Greene’s last start in the minors, he pitched 6.1 innings of shutout ball and threw 81 pitches. Well, if he threw 81 pitches in his last start, one would think Cincinnati would be alright with him flirting with 90 in this one. And I do like the matchup for him. Greene is going up against an Orioles team that has scored three or fewer runs in six of the last nine games. They’re not exactly hot at the moment.

Luis Arraez Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115) vs. Rockies

Giants at Rockies – 8:10 pm ET

The Rockies will be starting Sean Sullivan tonight, but this should essentially be a bullpen game for Colorado. Tomoyuki Sugano was scratched from his start, leaving the Rockies in a rough spot. Well, in hitter-friendly conditions, give me the most reliable contact hitter on San Francisco to do some damage. Arraez has very little power, so this might require two hits. But this could be a game in which he gets plenty of at-bats, and he’ll be getting them against miserable pitching. Colorado has the third-highest bullpen ERA (5.12) in baseball.
