Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Monday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Monday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Sean Burke Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-101 – 1.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 7+ (+205 – 0.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 8+ (+424 – 0.25 units) vs. Orioles
White Sox at Orioles – 6:35 pm ET
Burke comes into this game having recorded at least six strikeouts in six consecutive outings. Burke also had eight strikeouts in two of those six trips to the mound. Well, considering the righty’s recent success on the bump, I like this as a ladder spot for the White Sox starter. This season, the Orioles have a strikeout rate of 24.1% and whiff percentage of 26.3%. Baltimore is undeniably dangerous when looking at the lineup, but the team also struggles to consistently make contact. Also, Burke has been a little better on the road than he has been at home, and he has had at least seven strikeouts in three of his last four away starts.
Masataka Yoshida Over 1.5 Total Bases (+107) vs. Nationals
Nationals at Red Sox – 7:10 pm ET
Yoshida had at least two total bases in the final two games of Boston’s sweep of New York. The lefty slugger is now hitting at the top of the Red Sox lineup when facing righties, meaning plenty of opportunities to do damage at the plate. That makes him an intriguing plus-money play against the Nationals tonight. Washington is throwing righty Miles Mikolas and his 5.30 ERA this evening, making for a good matchup in Yoshida’s preferred split.
Parker Messick Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+120) & Alt Strikeouts 8+ (+235 – 0.5 units) vs. Rangers
Rangers at Guardians – 7:10 pm ET
Texas has a strikeout rate of 25.7% when facing southpaws this season. That’s an outrageously high number. Well, not only do the Rangers face a lefty tonight, they face a damn good one. Messick has a 2.67 ERA since the start of the season, he’s averaging 6.3 strikeouts per game, and he comes into this game having had 19 strikeouts in his last two starts. With that in mind, while Messick only had four strikeouts against Texas on June 5, I see this being an outing in which he goes out and misses a ton of bats.
