Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for September 8. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Our hosts and analysts will be all over the MLB, which is why it pays to be a VSiN Pro subscriber.

Tuesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Tuesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Hayden Wesneski Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-117) vs. Phillies
Astros at Phillies – 6:40 pm ET
Wesneski is averaging 4.7 strikeouts per game this season, and the righty has gone Over 3.5 Ks in all seven of his outings. Wesneski now faces a Phillies team with a strikeout rate of 22.0% against right-handed pitching this year, putting them in the league’s bottom half in that category. Also, while Citizens Bank Park is a hitter-friendly park, Wesneski had six strikeouts in hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium on August 27.
Sandy Alcantara Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+100) vs. Mets
Mets at Marlins – 6:40 pm ET
Alcantara has had fewer than five strikeouts in four of his last five outings, but I like him to have a solid night as a swing-and-miss pitcher here. Alcantara had five strikeouts against the Mets on August 2, and there’s really no reason he can’t do it again. This is a team with a strikeout rate of 22.3% against righties this year, and Alcantara prefers pitching in Miami. He’s actually averaging 6.3 strikeouts per game in his last six home starts.
Cam Schlittler Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-108) vs. Rockies
Rockies at Yankees – 7:05 pm ET
Schlittler comes into this start averaging 8.1 strikeouts per game over his last 14 games. He also has 17 strikeouts over his last two starts. The righty is currently looking to win the AL Cy Young, and he now faces a Rockies team with a strikeout rate of 22.1% against righties. He really should be able to strike out a good number of batters tonight. He has had at least eight Ks in four of his last five starts against bottom-10 teams in whiff percentage.
Additional Picks
Kevin McGonigle Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-112) vs. Twins
Patrick Sandoval Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-125) vs. Angels
Bubba Chandler Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+110) vs. White Sox
