Cincinnati Bengals vs. Atlanta Falcons – 9:30 am ET (Madrid, Spain)
Remember the first time you watched Kyle Pitts play football? He was big, athletic, and downright dominant, and you were certain he was destined for stardom. Well, let’s hope the new NFL fans in Madrid come away just as impressed as we were, as I’m firing on the 26-year-old to finish with at least 41 receiving yards. I’m also taking a small flier on him to find the end zone.
Pitts is coming off two miserable games in a row, and it isn’t necessarily his fault. Last week’s definitely wasn’t, as Michael Penix Jr. turned in one of the worst quarterback performances in NFL history. However, this week should be a bit better for Pitts. The Bengals have been the worst team in football at defending tight ends, allowing the most receiving yards and YAC per catch to the position. They’re also 28th in the NFL in explosive catch rate allowed to tight ends.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone if this is a game in which Pitts makes his presence felt, even if he often leaves you wondering where he is.
Bet: Pitts Over 40.5 Receiving Yards (-120) & Pitts Anytime TD (+275 – 0.5 units)
New York Jets at Kansas City Chiefs – 1:00 pm ET
I don’t know if I’ll fade the Jets every week for the rest of the season, but how can you not like the Chiefs to put a beating on them? Over the last two weeks, New York has an EPA/Play Allowed of 0.270. That’s the worst mark in the league, by far. The Jets have now been shredded by both the Dolphins and the Raiders, so it’s not like they’ve been playing great teams. Well, if those teams were able to torch New York, Patrick Mahomes and Co. should be able to do the same — even with more of a run-dominant approach.
It’s also hard to imagine the Jets having as much offensive success as we’ve seen in recent weeks. The Chiefs are a rock-solid defensive team, ranking 13th in the NFL in EPA/Play Allowed (-0.023).
The Jets also haven’t responded well to close losses under Aaron Glenn. When coming off losses by six or fewer points, New York is 0-6 straight up and 0-5-1 against the spread with him on the sidelines.
Bet: Chiefs -9.5 (-110)
Detroit Lions at Miami Dolphins – 1:00 pm ET
Willis comes into this game having thrown for multiple touchdowns in back-to-back weeks. He’s looking much better for a Miami offense that is beginning to show some signs of life. With that in mind, it’s pretty hard to pass on him to throw for two scores at +160 this week.
Willis will be going up against a defense that ranks in the bottom five in Dropback EPA/play, Passer Rating Over Expected, and Deep Throw Percentage. This is a golden matchup for a quarterback, and this game likely isn’t going Over a total of 50.5 without Willis chipping in some decent numbers.
Perhaps this game ends in a lopsided win for the Lions, but let’s hope Willis can make some things happen first.
Bet: Willis Over 1.5 Passing TDs (+160)
