England vs. Ghana
Boston Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts
Tuesday June 23rd – 4:00 p.m. ET
England (-450) | Draw (+550) | Ghana (+1300)
Over 2.5 Goals (-160) | Under 2.5 Goals (+130)
England impressed in their first match of the 2026 World Cup, taking down Croatia 4–2 in an offensively explosive affair. England generated 22 total shots — 11 on target — which proved far too much for the Croatian defense to handle. England created 3.85 expected goals (xG) while holding Croatia to just 0.92 xG. The entire world was betting the under, so naturally, half a dozen goals found the back of the net.
This is the kind of result we should expect from England, yet over the years it has become increasingly rare. They found themselves on the front foot early and never let off the pressure — a stark contrast to past performances where they would sit back and attempt to protect a lead.
Much was made of Thomas Tuchel’s halftime address during the Croatia match. England’s manager urged his squad to play their game — to be aggressive and courageous. It must have worked, because they came out in the second half absolutely on fire and never looked back. This may well be the dawn of a new era for England on the world stage.
Ghana is a side that relies on defensive organization and low-scoring matches — much like the England of old. Their opening match resulted in a 1–0 win over Panama following 95 minutes of scoreless action. They generated 1.24 xG while allowing 1.16 xG, but the final score was all that mattered as they secured three points.
Ghana’s game plan here will revolve around defending. They will hope to nick a goal while pouring everything into protecting their own end of the pitch. A 0–0 draw would feel like a victory for this Ghana side. Unfortunately for them, they are up against far too much firepower for that to be a realistic outcome.
The total line is telling. A heavily favored Over in an England match is not something you see every day — especially when the opponent struggles to generate offense. Harry Kane will have chances to score, and Bellingham, Gordon, and Madueke will all see opportunities as well. The talent gap is simply too wide, and the messaging coming out of the England camp is too strong. Ghana getting on the scoresheet seems unlikely, and England should win this one comfortably — 2–0 or 3–0.
Pick: England ML / Under 3.5 Goals (-125)
