🏈 Whatever Happened to the Dress Rehearsal?

VSiN.com managing editor Adam Burke made a good point about the final week of the NFL preseason:

When we had four preseason games, Week 3 was the “dress rehearsal,” as teams prepared like it was the regular season and a lot of the starters played a half or maybe even as much as three quarters. That is not the case at all anymore, as joint practices have surpassed games in terms of reps and impact.

But until we can bet on joint practices, I guess we’ll have to settle for preseason games.

I once worked for a sports editor who refused to let anyone call them “preseason games.” They were “exhibition games.”

I believe his philosophy was something like, “[Bleep] the NFL.”

Anyway, Adam has gone through this week’s games and found his Week 3 best bets, including plays on Patriots-Browns, Commanders-Ravens and Saints-Cowboys.

Tyler Shoemaker has released his first T Shoe Index Best Bet of the college football season — and his model disagrees with the market move on San Jose State-USC.

The total has climbed from 59 to 60.5, but TSI projects just 55 points. Tyler also notes that San Jose State returns only 24% of last year’s production, while USC ranked 92nd in tempo last season.

White Sox starter Sean Burke has a 3.27 ERA with 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings, backed by a bullpen that ranks fourth in MLB with a 3.33 ERA since July 1.

Meanwhile, Texas entered Tuesday tied for 28th in road scoring at four runs per game.

⛳ Can Wes Go 3-for-3?

Wes Reynolds is 2-for-2 in the FedExCup Playoffs, and he’s sticking with what’s been working.

Two weeks ago, Si Woo Kim delivered a 25-1 winner in the “Without Scottie Scheffler” market since Scheffler won. Last week, Wyndham Clark made it two straight as Scheffler struggled with hand, foot and mouth disease.

Scheffler still grades as the best player in the Tour Championship field. So rather than trying to beat him outright, Wes is going back to the “Without Scheffler” market and trying to sweep the playoffs.
