Makinen’s NASCAR predictions
Steve Makinen has posted his final simulation for today’s stop at Talladega.
After Saturday’s qualifying session at Talladega, there is some subtle movement in the final simulation for the Jack Links 500. Austin Cindric remains on top and is still followed by William Byron. Kyle Busch bumps up to 3rd, Ryan Blaney into 4th, and Chris Beuscher makes a big eight spot jump into 5th. Zane Smith grabs the pole position and makes the biggest Tuesday to Saturday leap on the simulation, going from 25th to 7th. He is now one of the underdogs to consider.
Underdogs are always a great option at Talladega, as wild wrecks can take out any car on the track at anytime. Thus I’ve extended my list of underdog options:
Top 5: Blaney, Byron, Cindric, Busch, Beuscher
Top longshots: Cindric, Wallace, Gilliliand, Buescher, Berry, Smith, Stenhouse
Favorites to struggle: Larson, Hamlin, Bell, Elliott
