We’re just one week away from the first of 31 conference tournaments.

I asked our very own Greg Peterson if he looking at any sleepers in these last few weeks before we hit Selection Sunday.

It is a cop-out answer, but I have zero college basketball futures tickets because I do firmly think that Auburn and Duke are the top two teams in the sport and have been taxed to the point where it is difficult to bet them. And even with those top two teams, the old saying from boxing of “matchups make fights” and the critical time to look for these teams that could provide a tough matchup is right now. Often times the teams that make big runs in March, start getting into prime form in the final week of February and first week of March, so this is a crucial time to watch these sleepers.

Here is one of Greg’s eight picks for today’s college hoops menu.

Purdue vs. Indiana (1:30 p.m. ET)

Indiana has struggled on offense, ranking 288th in 3-point shooting percentage and 136th in points per possession. Meanwhile, Purdue ranks 332nd in the nation in possessions per game away from home and 38th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage on defense.

Pick: Purdue -3.5 and Under 151 (Greg’s Handicap: Purdue -6.5 and Total 146.5)

NASCAR stop in Atlanta

Based on Steve Makinen’s race simulations, Atlanta Motor Speedway gets a B for predictability – unlike Daytona, which gets an F and deservedly so with the latest example last Sunday’s 500.

Adam Burke previews the second race of the season while Makinen sent me his thoughts on the race after posting his final simulation.

Final simulation finds Ryan Blaney, the pole sitter, as a heavy favorite. His Penske Racing teammates Joey Logano and Austin Cindric, who also qualified well, are shown as 2nd and 4th. William Byron of Hendrick Motorsports is the only one to break up those proceedings, checking in at No. 3.

While a mile shorter than Daytona, drafting skill has become one of the foremost factors at Atlanta since the track renovation a few years ago, thus the projections look somewhat similar to what we saw last week. I also will have my betting eyes on some of the same guys I liked then, starting of course with Team Penske.

Here are my personal projections for the race:

Top 5 – Blaney, Elliott, Logano, Byron, Busch

Top underdogs – Gilliland, Berry, Wallace, Beuscher

Favorites to struggle – Hamlin, Bell, Chastain
