🏈 The Saturday Night Buzz at Circa

I ran into Circa Sports operations chief Jeff Benson before The Football Contest Show Saturday night and asked him how the money was coming in on Sunday’s NFL menu.

Three teams were attracting money: the Patriots, who moved from -4.5 to -5.5 against Pittsburgh; the Chargers, still -6.5 against the Raiders; and the Giants +7 Monday night against the Rams, with Puka Nacua questionable because of a hip injury.

The next move to watch could be Bengals-Texans. Joe Burrow is questionable with a back injury, and Cincinnati showed at least some concern Saturday by adding QB Josh Johnson off the practice squad. Houston is currently -2.5.

And then there was the number Benson and I couldn’t quite believe: 42 Circa Survivor entries simply missed the Week 2 deadline.

More on that — and where the remaining $25 million Survivor field is concentrated — below.

📺 Sunday’s VSiN lineup:

Pro Tailgate Show with Mitch Moss and Pauly Howard from 9 a.m.-Noon ET, followed by VSiN Countdown to Kickoff with Stormy Buonantony and Jonathan Von Tobel from Noon-1 p.m. ET. Plus, look for halftime reports from Dr. David Chao and Steve Fezzik throughout the day.

💰 Contest Corner

☠️ 42 Survivor Picks Were MIA

Circa Survivor started Week 2 with 16,978 entries still alive in the quest for $25,017,000. Somehow, 42 of them failed to submit a pick.

I know at least two of the people who failed to submit. One was actually sitting in the Circa sportsbook with his team. Awkward, right?

Another was a former VSiN host whose idenity will remain confidential unless you send me an email guessing correctly who it was. Ha!

Meanwhile, nearly three-quarters of the submitted picks are riding just two teams Sunday:

🏈 49ers — 6,741 (39.8%)
🏈 Bucs — 6,061 (35.8%)

That’s 75.6% of the field on San Francisco or Tampa Bay. Week 2 could get interesting in a hurry.

💵 Grandissimo Is Even More Concentrated

The same two teams dominate the remaining Circa Grandissimo field, where 49 entries are chasing $7.7 million, winner take all.

🏈 49ers — 26 of 49
🏈 Bucs — 14 of 49

That’s 40 of 49 entries — 81.6% — on San Francisco or Tampa Bay.

📋 Eagles Are the Circa Million Consensus

Philadelphia -7 is the No. 1 Week 2 consensus play among the 5,790 Circa Million entries, appearing on 1,593 cards.

And among contestants who played Titans-Eagles, 81.1% laid the 7 points with Philadelphia.

👥 The Joes REALLY Like Philadelphia

Of the 654 Average Joe picks on Eagles-Titans, 600 are on Philadelphia -7 — 92%.

That’s particularly interesting because the Eagles were the Joes’ No. 2 consensus team last week — and failed to cover.

🏆 Nobody in the Invitational Wants Jacksonville

Eight Circa Friday Football Invitational contestants used Broncos-Jaguars on their cards. All eight laid Denver -2.5.

😬 Bad Beat or Miracle Cover?

N.C. State, a 3-point underdog and leading Vanderbilt by 3, tried to run out the clock by taking a safety — and instead fumbled in its own end zone. Vanderbilt recovered for a touchdown with no time left and got the cover.

Watch the Final Play >>

After The Football Contest Show, I stopped by the brand-new high-limit slots room at the Golden Gate and watched Ole Miss (+3) beat LSU 32-24 — a fitting finish to a game that had divided both the Circa Invitational field and VSiN’s handicappers all day.
