🏀 NBA Finals: The trend Steve called “ridiculous”
When VSiN analytics guru Steve Makinen calls a trend “ridiculous” — something he’s never seen in any sport — that gets my attention.

So here it is heading into tonight’s Knicks-Spurs opener (8 ET, ABC):

The NBA Finals are a ridiculous 62-3-3 ATS (95.4%) for outright winners over the last 11 seasons, including a 7-0 ATS sweep a year ago.
Steve says that trend is so strong that bettors backing an underdog should consider the moneyline instead of simply taking the points.

Steve also put together specific betting systems, power ratings and projections for tonight’s opener.

His playoff systems point toward a lower-scoring game, with Finals contests going Under at a 69% clip over the last 43 games and both ratings models projecting fewer points than the market’s total of 218.5.

Dave Tuley is sticking with his longtime “dog-or-pass” philosophy for the NBA Finals, and that leads him to the Knicks. Tuley argues New York has consistently been undervalued throughout the playoffs, going 11-1 ATS in its last 12 games.
