⚽ A Well-Earned Day Off
First, thank you to everyone who took advantage of our Fourth of July subscription offer.
A special thanks also to VSiN’s subscription team—Marc and Karina—who processed every order by hand.
I also enjoyed hearing from longtime subscribers.
My favorite note came from David F., who politely declined:
“I’m over 80 years old and no longer even buy green bananas. I can’t extend for two years when there’s no guarantee I’ll get there. One year at a time now.”
I wrote back: “Here’s to many more one-year deals.”
For the first time in nearly a month, there isn’t a World Cup match today.
Maybe we all needed the breather.
The Round of 16 ended with two thrillers.
Messi and Argentina rallied from two goals down after the 79th minute to win 3-2 in stoppage time, then Switzerland eliminated Colombia on penalty kicks to claim the final quarterfinal berth.
Quarterfinal schedule (Circa odds to advance):
Thursday
France (-405) vs. Morocco (+330)
Friday
Spain (-320) vs. Belgium (+265)
Saturday
England (-210) vs. Norway (+185)
Argentina (-290) vs. Switzerland (+245)
France is the tournament favorite at +165, followed by Spain (+375) and Argentina (+375).
Nigel Seeley and Alex Blowers will have Thursday’s Best Bets later today.
