WNBA Picks
A solid 2-1 night in the WNBA last night for us, as the Sun/Dream game stayed under the total, as did the Mystics and Aces game, to give us our two winners, but the Sun forgot to show up and got blown out, so they did not cover the +10.5. Tonight, there’s just a two-game slate featuring the Indiana Fever hosting the Dallas Wings and the Seattle Storm hosting the Portland Fire. Here are the TSI projections for Friday, August 14th.
Indiana Fever (-7.5) vs Dallas Wings, O/U 187.5
Indiana has been playing right at its season average over the last three games, but Dallas has been a shell of itself, playing ten points worse than its season average over the last three. To make matters worse for Dallas, Azzi Fudd is out with an injury. Over Dallas’s last three road games, they’ve been nine points worse than their season average, while Indiana has thrived at home, playing eleven points better than their season average over the last three home games. TSI projects Indiana -9.5 with a total of 183.5, and with the Fudd absence, I’d probably adjust another point or point and a half towards Indiana. I think there is blowout potential brewing here.
Bet: Fever -7.5 (Play to -8.5)
Seattle Storm (-2.5) vs Portland Fire, O/U 179.5
Seattle got its first win since July 6th in its last game vs Chicago, and has been playing two points better than its season average over the last three games. Portland has won two of three and is playing nine points better than its season average over the last three. Seattle’s last three home games have rated three points better than their season average, while Portland’s last three road games have actually been seven points better than their season average. TSI projects Storm -2 with a total of 179.5, so pretty much in lockstep with the market. I’ll pass here, as there are too many conflicting angles on this game.
