MLB Best Bets Today September 10
It is a compact five-game slate tonight, as a lot of teams have had very few off days ever since the All-Star Break. It may have also been by design for MLB, as they knew that the NFL season would start with a Thursday Night Football game. While they didn’t bank on a Wednesday game as well, a light schedule on Week 1 Thursday with just two night games feels intentional. Nevertheless, in looking over three of the five games, I still found something worthy of an investment tonight.

I’ll be posting my daily best bets Monday-Saturday with a Sunday Night Baseball preview on Sunday, as all the day games make it tough to get something out with lead time out here in Las Vegas. Rockies vs. Yankees Prediction
Pick: Ryan Feltner (COL) Over 2.5 Walks Allowed (+141)
A big plus-money price on a prop that I think has a pretty decent shot here. We know that Aaron Judge is back for the Yankees. We’ll see if he’s in the lineup tonight, but he’s a guy with a career 16.3% BB%. Outside of Judge, the Yankees have a lot of left-handed swingers in the lineup and Feltner sports a 12.5% BB% against them this season.
His BB% is higher on the road compared to at home at 11% and he’ll be making this start at Yankee Stadium, where a lot of pitchers tend to nibble and pitch scared. The Yanks are fourth in BB% at home at 10.8% and 16th on the road at just 8.7%. That seems relevant here in this start, especially for a guy like Feltner who has spent the entirety of his MLB career with Colorado and hasn’t pitched in this venue much.
I would expect six left-handed bats in the lineup for New York tonight and those guys have BB% against RHP of 14.1% (Rice), 12.7% (Bellinger), 4.7% (Garcia Jr.), 9.9% (Jones), and 8.1% (McMahon). Obviously Rice and Bellinger are the highlights here, but Jones has an above average BB% in his small sample as well. And, with Judge back in the lineup, his mere presence should help out the others to come up after him.
