Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins
Royals starting pitcher Luinder Avila has a 4.44 ERA with 5.5 walks per nine innings issued, but a lower 4.07 fielding independent with 0.5 home runs allowed and 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings. Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan has a 3.20 ERA and a 2.78 fielding independent with 0.8 home runs and 1.8 walks per nine innings while recording 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings. The Royals offense is last in road scoring with 3.5 runs per game.
Pick: Twins Run Line -1.5 +145 and Under 8.5 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Twins -1.5 +108 and Total 7.6
2:15 PM Eastern
Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Reds starting pitcher Nick Lodolo has struggled this season with a 5.20 ERA and 6.75 fielding independent, allowing 2.3 home runs and 4.2 walks per nine innings. However, he has looked better recently, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his past three starts, and is coming off a 2025 season in which he posted a 3.33 ERA with 1.8 walks per nine innings before beginning this season on the injured list. Cardinals starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore has a 4.35 ERA with 1.5 home runs and 3.3 walks per nine innings and faces a Reds team that is 15th in scoring with 4.3 runs per game, while the Cardinals are 25th in scoring at home with 3.9 runs per game.
Pick: Reds vs. Cardinals Under 9.5 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: 8.7
2:20 PM Eastern
San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago Cubs
The wind is expected to be mostly directional as Ben Brown gets the start for the Cubs. He has a 1.92 ERA with 0.2 home runs per nine innings allowed this season and faces a Giants offense that entered Friday 26th in scoring with four runs per game. Giants starting pitcher Landen Roupp has pitched better than his 4.22 ERA would indicate, as he owns a 2.82 fielding independent with 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings and only 0.4 home runs per nine innings allowed.
Pick: Giants vs. Cubs Under 8.5 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: 7.9
3:07 PM Eastern
Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish has a 3.44 ERA with nine strikeouts and one home run allowed per nine innings, but his 4.07 fielding independent and 4.5 walks per nine innings allowed are concerning. He is backed by an Orioles bullpen that ranks 23rd in ERA at 4.73. The Blue Jays bullpen ranks 14th in ERA at 3.89 and will likely use a somewhat wholesale approach, with Spencer Miles expected to either start or work bulk innings. He owns a 3.47 ERA with 0.7 home runs per nine innings allowed and a 3.30 fielding independent and faces an Orioles lineup that is 24th in road scoring with four runs per game.
Pick: Blue Jays Moneyline -108
Greg’s Handicap: Blue Jays -141
4:05 PM Eastern
Chicago White Sox vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Phillies starting pitcher Andrew Painter has had a rough start, posting a 5.74 ERA with 1.5 home runs and 2.9 walks per nine innings, but his 4.75 fielding independent points toward improvement. White Sox starting pitcher Sean Burke owns a 3.72 ERA with an even lower 3.32 fielding independent, allowing 0.7 home runs and 2.5 walks per nine innings. He faces a Phillies lineup that is 29th in scoring with 3.9 runs per game.
Pick: White Sox vs. Phillies Under 10 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: 8.1
4:10 PM Eastern
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Atlanta Braves
Pirates starting pitcher Braxton Ashcraft has had a great start to the season with a 2.77 ERA, allowing 0.8 home runs and two walks per nine innings. Braves pitcher Spencer Strider has a 3.77 ERA with 1.7 home runs per nine innings allowed but is backed by the better bullpen, as the Pirates rank 18th in bullpen ERA at 4.29 while the Braves rank third at 3.10. The Pirates also see a drop in offensive production away from home, averaging 5.6 runs per game at home compared to 4.7 runs per game on the road.
Pick: Braves Moneyline -110
Greg’s Handicap: Braves -153
4:10 PM Eastern
Washington Nationals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Diamondbacks starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez has a low 2.24 ERA, but there are concerns about regression given his 3.64 fielding independent, 6.5 strikeouts, and 3.2 walks per nine innings. He faces a Nationals lineup that entered the series leading the league in scoring with 5.25 runs per game. The Nationals will either start Zack Littell or use him as a bulk pitcher. He owns a 5.02 ERA with an even higher 6.22 fielding independent, allows 2.3 home runs per nine innings, records only 5.3 strikeouts per nine innings, and is supported by a bullpen that ranks 24th in ERA at 4.74.
Pick: Nationals vs. Diamondbacks Over 9 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: 9.7
7:35 PM Eastern
Cleveland Guardians vs. Texas Rangers
Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee has a 4.57 ERA this season with significant home-and-road splits, posting a 3.74 ERA at home and a 5.96 ERA on the road. He is supported by a bullpen that entered Friday ranked 12th in ERA at 3.72. The Rangers bullpen ranks eighth in ERA at 3.33. Rangers starting pitcher Jack Leiter has a 4.34 ERA with a lower 4.08 fielding independent and 10 strikeouts per nine innings and faces a Guardians offense that is 21st in scoring with 4.1 runs per game.
Pick: Rangers Moneyline -107
Greg’s Handicap: Rangers -135
10:10 PM Eastern
New York Mets vs. San Diego Padres
Padres starting pitcher Griffin Canning has had a miserable start to the season with a 7.16 ERA and two home runs allowed per nine innings, but he has pitched better recently, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his past three starts. He faces a Mets lineup that is 29th in road scoring with 3.6 runs per game. Mets starting pitcher Nolan McLean owns a 4.21 ERA this season with 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings, but he enters in poor form after allowing 20 total runs over his last four starts.
Pick: Padres Moneyline +108
Greg’s Handicap: Padres -117
