WNBA Picks

Seattle blew the cover by a half point last night to seal a 1-2 night for our bets after the Sparks and Liberty exploded for over 200 points when we had the Under and the Aces thankfully covered the 11.5 against Portland. Wednesday has just two games on the slate, featuring the Dallas Wings hosting the Atlanta Dream and the Phoenix Mercury hosting the Golden State Valkyries. Here are the TSI projections for Wednesday.

Dallas Wings (-1.5) vs Atlanta Dream, O/U 181.5

Coming into the break, the Wings were playing three points worse than their season average, but had won seven of their previous eight games. Atlanta is on a three-game winning streak, playing two points better than their season average. It’s worth noting that Atlanta has been two points worse on the road and Dallas has been five points better at home this year. TSI projects a pick ‘em with a total of 171.5 in this game, and the regression numbers favor Dallas and the Over. Still, that’s a huge discrepancy on the total, and both teams’ games in their respective home/road splits have gone under expectation by a combined three points per game this season.

Bet: Under 181.5 (Play to 180)

Phoenix Mercury (+5.5) vs Golden State Valkyries, O/U 155.5

Phoenix came into the break playing four points worse than its season average and has lost five of its last seven games – although two straight wins coming into the break. Golden State had its nine-game winning streak snapped by Washington just before the break, but even they’ve been two points worse than their season average. Phoenix has been four points worse at home while Golden State has been similar regardless of home/road situation. TSI projects Valkyries -3 with a total of 158.5, and the regression data favors the Valkyries and Under. There’s not enough here to convince me there’s a great play either way, so I’m going to pass.
