Time to shake-and-bake

We go from one Super Bowl to another.

Granted, the Super Bowl of NASCAR.

But I will let Steve Makinen make the case for betting on stock cars:

The wrap-up of the Super Bowl and the conclusion of another NFL season are always bittersweet times for sports bettors, particularly for those who don’t enjoy or have the time for the daily routine of handicapping basketball, baseball, or hockey. If you’re one of those people and looking for “what’s next,” perhaps NASCAR betting is the perfect fit for you. It offers huge weekly events with all kinds of wagering possibilities to consider, including futures, win props, driver vs. driver matchups and much, much more for every race.

Steve kicks off our coverage of NASCAR with a preview of the season and specifically the sport’s biggest race of the year, the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

During the 36-race season, Steve produces a race simulation early in the week and then again after qualifying. He has posted his first simulation for Dayton already.

He explains the factors that go into his simulations, but one of my favorite aspects is “track handicap-ability,” meaning how predictable the venue is for bettors.

The grades range from A- at the predictable Richmond and Dover tracks to F at Daytona because of all the huge crashes at the end of the race.

What this means for Sunday’s race is that you want to be on a long shot.

Spring in the Air

If Steve and I can’t persuade you to try NASCAR, then how about some baseball?

After all, the Cubs have already reported for spring training?!

VSiN recurring guest Jason Weingarten was in town for the Super Bowl and stopped by the VSiN studio for a visit with Gill Alexander on Monday’s A Numbers Game.

Jason offered his first round of MLB Win Total bets:

Padres under 85.5 wins

Dodgers under 104.5

Angels under 71.5 wins

Rockies over 60 wins

Braves under 92.5 wins

Late Lake Show

Luka Doncic made his Lakers debut in a 132-113 victory over the Jazz in LA. The Lakers easily covered the -12 as Doncic scored 14 points in 24 minutes. LeBron James added 24 points in 29 minutes.
