Sunday Betting Recaps

Welcome to our daily recap of the sports betting results from the day before.
Dogs were barking all day long as they were 2-0 in both the NBA and NHL playoffs, as well as in the USFL plus 8-6 in MLB with highlights being the Warriors (Game 7 of first round) and Heat (Game 1 of second round) pulling upsets in the NBA and the Panthers knocking off the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Bruins in their Game 7 in the NHL’s first round along with the second-year Kraken eliminating the defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche in yet another Game 7.
On my regular Sunday night appearance on “The Greg Peterson Experience” (11:15 p.m. ET/8:15 p.m. PT), I erroneously said there was an upset in the XFL semifinals in my Sunday wrapup but that’s because my mind was including the Arlington Renegades’ upset of the Houston Roughnecks on Saturday in the first XFL semifinal (the DC Defenders did cover as chalk in Sunday’s semi).
Anyway, let’s get to further details of Sunday’s action.

NBA: Warriors upset Kings 120-100 as 1.5-point road underdogs to win Game 7 of their series (stayed Under the betting total of 229.5 points). Faves still led 28-15 SU and 24-19 ATS (55.8%) in 1st round. Home teams finished 26-17 SU and 24-18-1 ATS (57.1%) in the round. Unders led 22-21. The “zig-zag theory” (aka “loser of the last") finished 19-15-1 ATS (55.9%).

More NBA: Earlier Sunday, the Heat (+4) upset the Knicks 108-101 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series (stayed Under 210.5). Faves/dogs, home/road and O/U are all off to 1-1 starts in the second round including the Nuggets’ cover vs. the Suns on Saturday. Overall, faves lead 29-16 SU and 25-20 ATS (55.6%). Home teams 27-18 SU and 25-19-1 ATS (56.8%). Unders lead 23-22.

NHL: Florida Panthers upset the Boston Bruins 4-3 in OT of Game 7 to win their series 4-3 as the Presidents’ Trophy winner was ousted in the first round. The Panthers did it as +190 road underdogs (game went Over betting total of 6.5 goals in OT as the Panthers tied game at 3-3 with exactly 1 minute left in regulation).

More NHL: Kraken also upset the Avalanche as +190 road dog in Game 7 (just like Panthers over Bruins). NHL dogs are 26-22 overall in the 1st round with 1 pick-’em. Road teams have been even better at 31-18. Overs lead 26-23. The "zig-zag" was 1-1 Sunday with the win by SEA after losing its prior game, but a loss by BOS, 23-18 overall.

MLB: Dogs went 8-6 Sunday with biggest upsets by Mariners (+180 at Blue Jays) and White Sox (+170 vs. Rays). Home teams went 10-3 with SF-SD at neutral site. Over/Unders split 7-7. On the season, faves still lead 260-158 with 7 PKs. Home teams improved slim lead to 218-205 with 2 neutral sites. Overs 206-197-21 (51.1%) with 1 no-action.

XFL: DC Defenders routed Seattle Sea Dragons 37-21 after closing as 1-point home favorites to advance to the XFL Championship Game in two weeks in San Antonio (went Over 49). Faves lead 20-18-2 ATS (regular season plus 1-1 ATS in playoffs) with 2 games closing pick-’em. Home/road teams have split 20-20-2 ATS. Overs took 21-20-1 lead.

USFL: Pittsburgh Maulers (+7) upset Philadelphia Stars 21-13 (stayed Under 42) and New Jersey Generals (+4.5) upset Michigan Panthers 28-13 (Under 43). Dogs went 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS in Week 3 while Over/Unders split 2-2. On season, faves/dogs 6-6 SU but dogs lead 8-4 ATS. Over/Unders still .500 at 6-6.
