Here are our favorite NBA prop bets for Monday, March 27 (odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook):
Houston Rockets at New York Knicks (-13.5, 230.5)
Julius Randle is averaging 10.1 rebounds per game for New York this season, yet his rebound total is down at 8.5 tonight. Part of the reason for that must be that the oddsmakers feel this game has the chance to turn into a blowout. And if that happens, Randle might not play his usual 36 minutes or so. But the Rockets can be a little more competitive than people think, and this is just too low of a number for Randle.
The big lefty had 12 rebounds when he faced Houston on December 31st, and he’s the type of player that can rack up rebounds in a hurry. He’s a bully around the basket and will often even tip in his own misses off offensive rebounds, which can be huge for anybody that takes his over.
According to our Daily Prop Analyzer, Randle has also gone over the 8.5-rebound mark in 49 of the 75 games he has played this season. That’s good for a success rate of 65.3%. That just makes it very hard to believe that Randle won’t hit the nine-rebound mark tonight, especially considering the Knicks haven’t played since Thursday. Randle has had quite a bit of time to get his legs fresh.
Bet: Randle Over 8.5 Rebounds (+110)
Phoenix Suns (-6.5, 234) at Utah Jazz
Chris Paul is averaging only 9.1 assists per game this season, but he’s averaging 10.1 assists per game against Western Conference opponents. He’s also averaging 9.7 assists per game since the start of March, so there has been an uptick in playmaking for the 37-year-old.
Tonight, we’re looking for at least 10 assists out of Paul in a meeting with the Jazz, and we love that Deandre Ayton will be back for Phoenix in this one. Paul and Ayton have a tremendous pick-and-roll connection, so the Point God should rack up assists simply by lobbing it up to the big fella around the basket.
This Jazz team also happens to be rather lousy defensively, with Utah being 24th in the league in defensive rating this season. Against bad defenses, Paul can spot out opportunities with his eyes closed. So, we’re taking the over on his assist total and watching this magician go to work.
Bet: Paul Over 9.5 Assists (-115)
Philadelphia 76ers at Denver Nuggets (-5.5, 228.5)
The last time Nikola Jokic faced the 76ers, the big man only took 12 shots in what was a highly anticipated battle with fellow MVP candidate Joel Embiid. Basketball fans and award voters all expected these two to go out and rack up numbers when they faced one another, but it was one-way traffic on that front. Embiid scored 47 points in that last meeting, going 18 for 31 from the floor. He went out of his way to try and score the basketball, but that’s not the Jokic way. He is who he is as a basketball player, and that benefits anybody looking at his assist prop tonight.
Not only is Jokic averaging 9.9 assists per game this season, but he’s also averaging 16.3 potential assists. Quite frankly, he’s the best passer in the entire NBA and he can always be counted on to go out and get his teammates good looks. And tonight’s meeting with the Sixers is no exception.
Also, with Embiid out in this one, the Sixers will be lacking in rim protection. That means Jokic should be able to find some cutters for easy baskets, as they won’t be met with much resistance.
Bet: Jokic Over 9.5 Assists (+100)
