The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 119-116 as 19-point underdogs on Tuesday, pulling off a historic upset. The win was the largest of this NBA season and the third-biggest pointspread upset since 1990 according to ESPN, behind the Orlando Magic (%plussign% 21 at Chicago Bulls, 1992) and the Dallas Mavericks (%plussign% 19.5 at Seattle SuperSonics, 1993).
The Nets were 14-1 underdogs on the moneyline, meaning a $100 wager would’ve won $1,400.
Brooklyn, a 13-point underdog in the first half and %plussign% 780 on the ML at PointsBet Sportsbook, led 73-65 at the break. Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo played only 16 minutes and sat out the second half, along with several other Milwaukee starters.
Milwaukee has now lost two of its three games inside the NBA bubble in Florida at Disney World.
“We received a significant number of $1,000 bets on the Bucks ML and a bunch of parlays that were counting on the Bucks first half,” Patrick Eichner, director of communications for PointsBet told VSiN. “We took a few bets on the Nets ML, but nothing huge.”
The largest confirmed wager on the Nets was reported by Covers.com: A $2,159 wager on Brooklyn to win at 15-1 at William Hill, which netted over $32,000. Several other sportsbooks told VSiN there was limited action on the Nets ML.
