NHL Predictions – Expert Picks on Monday, January 13:

Here are tonight’s NHL predictions:

Florida Panthers (-165, 5.5) at Philadelphia Flyers

7 p.m. ET

The Panthers have traded wins and losses the last seven games and are coming off a 4-3 overtime defeat to the Boston Bruins on Saturday. Florida will look to get back to their winning ways in Philadelphia against a Flyers team who they have defeated twice this season. The Flyers are coming off a 6-0 thumping of the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday that snapped a four-game losing streak. Early goals have been a trend for both of these teams. Flyers games have featured a goal in the first 10 minutes of the game in seven straight and eight of the last 10 games. Florida games on the road have cashed the first period Over 1.5 goals in 14 of 20 games. I don’t like to lay (-165) on a road team so I will play the Panthers in regulation (-110). Twenty of Florida’s 22 wins this season have come in regulation.

NHL Predictions: Florida Panthers in regulation (-110) – 1 unit
Florida Panthers/Philadelphia Flyers Goal 1st 10 (-145) – 1 unit
Florida Panthers/Philadelphia Flyers 1st Period Over 1.5 (-130) – 1 unit

Calgary Flames (-135, 5.5) at Chicago Blackhawks

7:30 p.m. ET

The Flames will look to make it a clean sweep of the season series against the Blackhawks when they visit Chicago tonight. Calgary will once again turn to Dustin Wolf between the pipes. Wolf will be making his fourth consecutive start and has won both meetings against the Hawks this season. The Flames are (3-1) as road favorites and (3-9) as the road underdog. I have concerns about betting on Calgary tonight. They were outshot by Los Angeles 32-18 on Saturday. If not for Wolf’s outstanding play, the Flames would never have come away with a victory. Wolf has not been as good on the road, losing five of eight games.

As I discussed with the Flyers game, early goals have been a part of Blackhawks games as well. The goal in the first 10 minutes prop has cashed in six straight and eight of the last 10 games. The first period Over 1.5 goals has cashed in 10 straight games. Both meetings this season had two goals scored in the opening 20 minutes.

The Flames’ Matt Coronato has scored three of his 10 goals this season against the Blackhawks. Connor Bedard had his nine-game point streak snapped on Saturday. Five times this season, he has had a multi-point game after being held off the scoresheet. Tyler Bertuzzi has two goals in two games against Flames goalie, Dustin Wolf.

NHL Predictions: Calgary Flames/Chicago Blackhawks 1st period Over 1.5 (-130) – 2 units
Calgary Flames/Chicago Blackhawks Goal 1st 10 minutes (-155) – 1 unit
Matt Coronato anytime goal (+300) – ¼ unit
Connor Bedard Over 1.5 points (+300) – ¼ unit
Tyler Bertuzzi anytime goal (+300) – ¼ unit
