On Saturday, July 11, we’ll witness an all-Czech Wimbledon final with Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova battling on Centre Court at the All England Club. I’m dropping my favorite play for this match below, but make sure you also monitor the picks page. I usually have a few more picks over there, plus I occasionally add plays based on the way lines are moving. That’s also where Gill Alexander posts his bets.

Karolina Muchova vs. Linda Noskova
If you’ve been reading my work for a while — either here or with Tennis Channel — you probably know that I have been waiting on both of these players to take down their maiden Slams. I have backed Muchova to win several majors in the past, and that obviously hasn’t come to fruition. I have also been referring to Noskova as a future Slam winner for a couple of years now. How is this relevant? It probably isn’t. But it’s tough having to choose between two favorites. It’s also frustrating not having futures on these players, as I have had them before and won’t get to cash in on the big moment. Oh well.
With that out of the way, let’s actually get into this. This will be the second WTA-level meeting between these two players, and it was Muchova that won the first. That was a tight three-set match at last year’s US Open.
Given that these two have only met once, I’m not going to put too much stock in the match they played in Flushing Meadows. While it hasn’t been a long time since that match, Noskova is a completely different player. She’s also on another level when comparing her grass-court game to her hard-court game, and that’s saying something because she’s good on hard courts.
What am I looking at here? It’s really the full season’s body of work, along with the different skill sets these two possess. In regards to the first, it’s hard not to point out that Muchova had a 2026 Elo Rating of 2088.3 when Tennis Abstract last updated the numbers on June 29. Noskova’s number was down at 1985.3, giving Muchova a pretty sizable advantage when looking at 2026 overall.
Naturally, people will be quick to point out that Noskova has looked a bit sharper at the All England Club, and I can’t really argue against that. While Muchova has earned hard-fought wins over Barbora Krejcikova, Naomi Osaka, and Coco Gauff, none of those wins were entirely convincing. She had to work her tail off in all of them, whereas Noskova comes into this one off straight-set wins over Madison Keys, Elise Mertens, and Marta Kostyuk. The 21-year-old has looked flat-out dominant over the last five days.
I do, however, prefer the road Muchova has taken. Winning matches easily is good when you’re not expecting a fight in the near future, but what happens if Muchova comes out and punches Noskova in the mouth? We have seen Muchova grind out some very tough wins against elite players this tournament. Are we sure Noskova can do the same?
I’ll also note that what goes up generally comes down. I say that to say that I’m a bit worried about Noskova’s serve coming into this one. Noskova is one of the best servers on the planet, so there’s always a chance she’ll go out and regularly hit her targets. But after making 70% of her first serves — and facing only one break point against the best returner on the WTA Tour — in the semifinals, Noskova could be in for some regression.
On top of all of that, Muchova is a more complete player than Noskova. Sure, Noskova has the powerful baseline game, and Muchova is going to need to be ready to do some counter-punching here. But Muchova packs some punch of her own, and she does so while also having a ton of variety. Muchova is fully capable of keeping Noskova on her toes with a slice backhand, along with an ability to rush the net and put points away.
It should also be noted that Muchova has been a Slam runner-up before. She was in the French Open final back in 2023, when she nearly beat Iga Swiatek at the peak of her clay-court powers. That experience should serve Muchova pretty well here. Noskova has no idea what it’s like to be on a national stage like this.
Overall, I’m not going to get carried away with this play. There’s very little that separates these two players. However, I do like Muchova’s chances, so that’s where I’m putting my money.
Bet: Muchova ML (-115)
