Favorites dominated again on Thursday, though the Panthers had to rally in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals, plus chalk going 8-3 in MLB (see below for how well they’ve been faring this week).

 

Let’s get to the specific details with our daily betting recaps, and then update the spread and total records in each current major team sport (including the NBA as the Finals resume Friday night in Miami).

NHL: Panthers rallied late in regulation and then beat Golden Knights 3-2 in OT to pull within 2-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals. The ViewFromVegas is they were -125 home favorites (stayed Under the betting total of 6 goals after it was raised from 5.5 in the games in Vegas). Home/fave/Under went 1-0 on the night. The “zig-zag” (aka “loser of the last”) went 1-0 as the Panthers lost the previous game.

More NHL: Favorites/home teams improved to 3-0 this round, but dogs still lead 43-39 overall in the Stanley Cup playoffs with 4 PKs. Road teams also dipped to 46-40. Overs dipped to 2-1 this round and their slim lead dipped to 43-42-1. The “zig-zag” improved to 1-1 this round, 40-31 overall.

MLB: Favorites went 8-3 on Thursday (35-11 the last 4 days) with the biggest upset by the White Sox (+121 at Yankees in Game 1 of their doubleheader after Wednesday’s game was postponed due to poor air quality). The only other upsets were by the Blue Jays (+100 vs. Astros) and Orioles (-104 at Twins) as very short dogs. Home teams went 7-4. Unders led 7-3-1 with the push in Orioles-Brewers (9). On the season, faves lead 542-382 with 14 games closing pick-’em. Home teams improved to 500-436 with 2 neutral-site games. Unders improved slim lead to 457-446-34 with 1 no-action

NBA (ICYMI): With the Nuggets’ covering as 3.5-point road faves in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday, faves are 2-1 SU and ATS so far in this series and lead 53-28 SU and 43-37-1 ATS (53.8%) overall with 1 game closing pick-’em. Road teams lead 2-1 SU and ATS in the series, but home teams still lead 49-33 SU and 44-37-1 ATS (54.3%). Unders took a 2-1 lead in this series and Over/Unders are now tied again at 40-40-2 overall. The zig-zag has started 2-0 ATS in this series and improved to 37-29-1 ATS (56.1%).
