We know this much: There will be a Game 5 in the NBA Finals.

The Spurs made sure of that Monday night.

San Antonio beat the Knicks 115-111 at a star-studded Madison Square Garden, ending New York’s 13-game playoff winning streak and cutting the Finals deficit to 2-1.

The Spurs also rewarded the betting public. Before tipoff, the majority of moneyline wagers at both DraftKings and Circa backed San Antonio to win as an underdog.

Zach Cohen’s NBA Report

In yet another back-and-forth game in these NBA Finals, we finally saw San Antonio find a way into the win column. This was arguably the most physical game of the series, and Knicks fans have every right to be angry with the way it was officiated. The Spurs were fortunate that Victor Wembanyama wasn’t ejected for a nasty play in which he threw Jalen Brunson down by the back of his head. But in the end, all that matters is that San Antonio won.

This game saw the Spurs win outright as 1.5-point underdogs, and the Over cashed easily with the teams combining for 226 points.

Similar numbers have been posted for Wednesday’s Game 4, with the Knicks laying 1.5 or 2 and the total at 215.5.

New York will be looking for better Game 4 performances out of two of the Villanova alums, as Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges weren’t good enough Monday. Brunson did finish with 32 points in the game, but he was just 11-for-25 from the floor and continues to be lacking in the efficiency department. Bridges was also just 1-for-5 from the floor and 0-for-3 from deep in 29 minutes of action.

Wembanyama had his best game of the series, finishing with 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks. Stephon Castle added 23 points and hit a pair of clutch free throws to ice the game.

🏒 Best Stanley Cup Final Ever?
The Vegas-Carolina series resumes tonight (8 ET, ABC) with the Golden Knights holding a 2-1 series lead but listed as slight home underdogs at Circa.

I ran into VSiN hockey analyst Jonathan Davis at Circa’s Legacy Club in the wee hours after Game 3 and asked him a simple question.

After only three games, could this already be one of the greatest Stanley Cup Finals ever?

Maybe it was the cocktails talking, but we both agreed it has a chance if the madness continues.

JD predicts a Vegas victory tonight, but he’s sticking with the same parlay that has cashed in all three games so far.

⚾ Total Chaos In Vegas
As I mentioned in Monday’s newsletter, the Athletics are playing at Las Vegas Ballpark this week — the first MLB regular-season games here in 30 years.

Monday’s total was a seemingly sky-high 11, and Greg Peterson handicapped the number at 9.2.

Final score: Brewers 15, Athletics 14 in 12 innings.

Maybe the altitude affects the umpire too. There were 16 ABS challenges and 11 calls overturned.

Tonight’s total is 12.5.

Wisely, Greg takes a pass.
