1/ST BET Horse Racing Predictions:
We are excited to announce a renewed partnership with the fine folks and handicappers at 1/ST BET. Jeremy Plonk and Jeff Siegel will be sharing their expertise Wednesday-Sunday on a weekly basis to pass along some ponies that they like for races at various tracks around the country, including today’s picks at Churchill Downs.
For this Friday, September 13 article, we’ve got “Plonk’s Picks” for racing at Kentucky’s legendary race track.
Churchill Downs | Race 6 | 3:18 pm ET
#7 Hymnal (3-1 morning line odds)
Filly was transferred by its owner, WinStar Farm, from Bob Baffert in California to William Walden in Kentucky (the latter son of WinStar GM Elliott Walden). They face easier competition after a poor effort at Del Mar, but leading jockey Tyler Gaffalione rides. This jockey-trainer combo is a sharp 3-for-7 together. They likely expect this horse to get claimed (purchased by another owner) and are looking for a winning purse and quick sale to double-dip. Win bet.
Churchill Downs | Race 9 | 4:54 pm ET
#4 Bow Draw (15-1 morning line odds)
Longshot look in a race that has intense early speed projected and a 7-furlong distance that might be too taxing for most in the lineup. Looking for a horse shortening the trip in this situation with experience going farther. This one pulled a 40-1 upset 19 days ago over a 1-mile trip and will be running hard through the wire when others are losing starch. First try at Churchill, but Preakness-winning sire Oxbow’s offspring have won a very solid 16% over this track. Win-place bet … or consider both a win bet and a back-wheel in the exacta (ALL with 4).
