Tennis best bets for Wimbledon – Wednesday, July 12th
Wimbledon is the third major of the tennis season and it’s arguably the most prestigious of the four. The All England Club in London, England is one of the most beautiful venues that the sport has to offer, and the exclusive nature of grass-court tennis gives it a different feel than the rest. Madison Keys vs. Aryna Sabalenka
If you took my pre-tournament suggestion and played Keys to win this quarter at +700, it makes sense to sit this one out — and potentially even hedge here. However, I like Keys’ chances in this match. These are two of the most powerful players in the women’s game, and this one will come down to who serves better and avoids making costly mistakes. While Sabalenka is ranked a lot higher than Keys, I truly believe this one can go either way. That’s why I like taking the plus-money odds with the American.
Sabalenka hasn’t showed any signs of scar tissue after her loss to Karolina Muchova at the French Open, but I do think she’s capable of imploding at any moment. And with the pressure of needing to hold because of how good Keys’ serve is, I can see her cracking a few times in this match. Keys also happened to beat Sabalenka on grass two years ago, and that was the only meeting between these two on this surface. So, the blueprint is there for the American to get this done.
It’s also hard to ignore that all the pressure in the world is on Sabalenka in this spot. Keys has nothing to lose and that should let her go out and play freely.

Ons Jabeur vs. Elena Rybakina
Rybakina is the defending Wimbledon champion, but I think that has her a little overvalued in the market. There’s just not that much that separates her from a player like Jabeur, who is easily a top-five player in the world. Jabeur is also coming off a match in which she beat up on two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, while Rybakina barely had to play before Beatriz Haddad Maia retired from their quarter-final meeting with a bad back. So, while Jabeur is playing at a very high level, Rybakina could be a little rusty here.
Jabeur has also been a very productive grass-court player in her career, and her ability to hit spin-heavy shots is a big part of that. While power is a huge asset on grass, it’s also important to try and throw your opponents off. Jabeur should be able to do that here, which will be big considering Rybakina isn’t the best mover in the world.
This is just another semi-final match that feels like it can go either way, so why not take the underdog?
