Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Tuesday, July 25th:
Miami Marlins at Tampa Bay Rays (-205, 7.5)
Tyler Glasnow has been pitching very well for the Rays lately, as he has given up two or fewer earned runs in four of his last five starts. Glasnow is also coming off an outing in which he pitched 7.0 innings of two-run ball against a very good Baltimore Orioles offense. That was his first time this season pitching more than 6.0 innings, but he’s getting further and further removed from his stint on the IL. With that said, I’d expect some more lengthy outings from the righty, and I like his chances of pitching at least 6.1 innings against the Marlins tonight.
Only eight teams in baseball have a lower wRC+ against right-handed pitching than Miami this season, so this is not an offense that Glasnow should struggle with. In fact, his total for earned runs allowed tonight is just 1.5, so the oddsmakers clearly like his chances of dominating. They just don’t seem to have much faith in him pitching for long, but that’s the difference between one or two innings being quicker than usual. At these odds, I’m willing to take the chance, as I think there’s a good opportunity for Glasnow to have his best outing of the season here.
Bet: Glasnow Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (+140)
Colorado Rockies at Washington Nationals (-135, 9)
Austin Gomber is a pitcher I normally like to fade, but that’s when the lefty is pitching at Coors Field. Gomber is a lot better when pitching outside the most hitter-friendly park on the planet, and I like his chances of striking out at least four batters in today’s meeting with the Nationals.
Gomber actually faced Washington earlier in the year, when he struck out five in a lousy 4.2-inning outing at home on April 8th. Now, I like Gomber to be a bit sharper when he gets to face the Nats in D.C. The reality is that Gomber doesn’t even have to pitch all that well in order to hit the Over on this play. Four strikeouts is such an easy mark to hit, and it’s one that he has reached nine times this season. He has also done so in five starts since the beginning of June.
Bet: Gomber Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-120)
Atlanta Braves (-135, 10) at Boston Red Sox
Charlie Morton has been great for the Braves this season, as the veteran righty is 10-7 with a 3.36 ERA and 119 strikeouts on the year. Morton is also even better on the road this year, as he’s 5-3 with a 2.87 ERA in nine starts away from home. But for as good as Morton can be, it’s still hard to believe he’ll shut this Red Sox lineup down. Boston is very good against right-handed pitching, and the team is also remarkable offensively at Fenway Park. That’s why this game has such a high total, and the Red Sox are barely underdogs against one of the best teams in baseball.
When looking for somebody on Boston that could do some damage tonight, I like my chances playing the Over on 1.5 total bases with Jarren Duran. Duran is batting .321 with two triples, five homers and 27 doubles against right-handed pitching this year. He’s also batting .362 with two triples, four homers and 15 doubles at home.
Bet: Duran Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105)
