Game 2 New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction:
The New York Yankees look to pick off the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road in Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday.
Carlos Rodon gets the start for the Yankees. During the regular season, he posted a 3.96 ERA, with the deep ball being his undoing. He allowed 1.6 home runs per nine innings while recording 10 strikeouts per nine innings.

In the playoffs, Rodon’s ERA has gone up to 4.40, but his two starts in the American League Championship Series against the Cleveland Guardians were two of his best, with three runs and just one home run allowed in 10 2/3 innings.
Rodon will look to neutralize a Dodgers offense that had the highest run output of any team that made the postseason with 5.2 runs per game during the regular season. In the playoffs, that output increased to 6.4 runs per game but has been held down easier at home than on the road.
Between the regular season and the playoffs, the Dodgers entered Game 1 of the World Series generating just over 4.9 runs per game at home compared to 5.6 runs per game on the road with a .332 on-base percentage at home compared to a .340 on the road.
For the Dodgers, Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets the start. Yamamoto looks to build off of his last two postseason starts, where he allowed a total of two runs across 9 1/3 innings in a pair of wins.
He faces a Yankees lineup that led the American League with nearly five runs per game during the regular season and entered the World Series generating 4.8 runs per game. Still, four of the eight position players that appeared in all nine of their playoff games in the first two rounds entered this series batting .194 or worse.
Both teams entered Game 1 of the World Series having stronger bullpen performances in the postseason than in the regular season. The Yankees’ 3.62 regular-season ERA went down to a 2.56 ERA in the playoffs. The Dodgers had a 3.53 ERA in their bullpen during the regular season and a 3.16 postseason ERA.
With Rodon entering this start having allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his past eight starts dating back to the regular season and the bullpens having received nearly a week of rest leading into Friday’s Game 1, two great offenses will be held down on Saturday.
