MLB Best Bets
The Sunday MLB schedule is my favorite of the week because almost every team plays a day game. However, it can sometimes be tricky due to getaway days and players receiving the afternoon off. So be sure to double-check lineups. That said, we have a full 15-game slate, giving us plenty of options for MLB best bets and props.
Below are three of my MLB best bets for Sunday, April 14, but be sure to price shop for the best odds available to you at the time of viewing.

Minnesota at Detroit
1:40 pm ET
The Minnesota Twins will send Bailey Ober to the mound on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers.
Ober will follow a dominant 12-strikeout performance by teammate Joe Ryan on Saturday against this same lineup. I see no reason why we shouldn‘t go right back to the well.
Ober is coming off a strong effort against a tough Dodgers lineup in which he struck out seven over five innings. This is obviously encouraging heading into a matchup with the Tigers, who have a team-wide 23.3% strikeout rate.
The Twins right-hander posted a 25.3% strikeout rate last season, which included 23 strikeouts against the Twins in 16 innings.
The strikeout prop for the Twins righty opened at 5.5 at plus-money, making it a strong target for your Sunday betting ticket
MLB Best Bet: Bailey Ober Over 5.5 K (+112)
Minnesota at Detroit
1:40 pm ET
In the same exact game, Detroit will send veteran Jack Flaherty to the hill.
The 28-year-old is not the most dependable option, but despite shaky results this far, Flaherty has collected 12 strikeouts in 12 innings, albeit against the White Sox and the Athletics.
Thankfully, the Twins are an easy target when it comes to punchouts. Minnesota has posted the 2nd-highest strikeout rate in the league this season (28.6%). In fact, they are even worse against right-handed pitching (29.3%).
If Flaherty can hang around for even five innings, he should have no issue cruising past the Over, which is currently set at 5.5 strikeouts.
MLB Best Bet: Jack Flaherty Over 5.5 K (-106)
Pittsburgh at Philadelphia
1:35 pm ET
Following the injury to Braves right-hander Spencer Strider, Zack Wheeler became the favorite for the National League Cy Young award.
I opened with that statement to solidify that Wheeler should hardly ever be priced well enough to take in an F5 situation against an inferior opponent. Yet he is on Sunday.
The Phillies will take on the Pirates with Mitch Keller taking the hill for Pittsburgh. The 28-year-old has conceded 12 runs over 11 â…“ innings this season on 20 hits and seven walks.
In 2023, Philadelphia posted the 4th-best wRC+ in the National League against right-handed pitching. That said, their lineup is off to a slow start this season.
I am not too worried, though. Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber are a combined 11-for-22 against Keller with six doubles and a home run. If anyone can get the Philly bats going, it’s Mitch.
MLB Best Bet: Phillies -0.5 F5 (-130)
