MLB Best Bets Today September 6:

The full menu is available in Major League Baseball today, as all 30 teams are in action. We do have a rogue day game at Wrigley Field between two storied franchises, as the Yankees and Cubs get together for a Windy City matinee at 2:20 p.m. ET. Otherwise, every other game is a late one.

I know it’s football season now, but there will still be some good betting opportunities on the baseball side of things. Don’t forget to give it a look as time permits to see if anything sticks out. I’ll be running this article through the end of the playoffs and will have playoff series previews when we get to that point, so we aren’t forgetting about it here at VSiN and neither should you.

Here are the MLB best bets today for September 6:

Detroit Tigers (-162, 7) at Oakland Athletics

9:40 p.m. ET

The Tigers and Athletics square off in the late game as far as the AL goes for tonight. It will be heavy odds-on AL Cy Young favorite Tarik Skubal for Detroit and Mitch Spence for Oakland. My focus is actually on Spence in this one, as he comes in with a 4.50 ERA and a 4.22 FIP for the season, but a 3.99 ERA and a 3.35 FIP at home.

Spence has made nine starts at home and has gone Over 15.5 Outs Recorded in eight of them. The Tigers are 25th in baseball with a .302 wOBA against righties since August 1. They have a 24.5% K% and a 6.5% BB% in that split, so they’re not exactly having much success with making pitchers work. That’s important because Spence has had some control issues in the second half with a BB% spike from 6.6% to 9.8%, but the Tigers are not exactly a patient bunch.

I also feel like Spence should have the opportunity to get into a good groove tonight opposing Skubal. The A’s offense is unlikely to have a lot of long innings, so Spence will be able to stay hot and get right back out there if he’s in rhythm.

To that above point, it has actually been eight straight home starts for Spence with 16 or more outs, as he only went three innings in his second start of the season.

Pick: Mitch Spence Over 15.5 Outs Recorded (-130)
