Sunday Best Bet Results
Sunday was a little bit of a disappointment in the Tuley’s Takes home office, but we can’t whine too much since we’ve had such a great month of May.
I went 1-2 with my MLB First 5 Inning bets as I lost my supposed Best Bet on the Red Sox F5 +125 as the Padres jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on the way to leading 6-0 after 5 innings and the Mariners F5 -110 as they trailed the Braves 2-1 after 5.
But at least we cashed our last play of the day on the Guardians F5 +120 as Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez homered off New York’s Justin Verlander in the top of the 1st inning for the only run in the first half of their game on Sunday Night Baseball.

I was also kicking myself for not betting the Heat +4.5 as they blew out the Celtics 128-102 to improve dogs to 6-0 ATS in the conference championship round (see all my Sunday recaps in the ATS Report at VSiN.com). I also passed on the Nuggets as road dogs vs. the Lakers on Saturday as I wasn’t able to pull the trigger against the Lakers and Celtics in the “zig-zag role.” I hope my “dog-or-pass” followers learned their lessons better than me and went with the “dog” instead of the “pass.”
But, hey, we’re trying to be selective here and avoid dead dogs – it just didn’t pan out this time for yours truly, Dave Tuley.
We’re still 29-19-7 (60.4%) so far in the month of May with our all-underdog or pick-’em plays for a net profit of $1,216 based on $100 flat bets, according to the VSiN Pro Picks page.
Let’s look for more Best Bets on Monday, again sticking with MLB. As I discussed on my regular appearance on “The Greg Peterson Experience” on Sunday night (11:15 p.m. ET/8:15 p.m. PT, or 15 minutes into the archived version), I’m passing again on the Nuggets as 3- to 3.5-point dogs Monday night as the Lakers (again in the zig-zag role) are trying to avoid the sweep. I did hint that I’ll probably be on the Celtics +2 in Tuesday’s game at the Heat (a contrarian play as the whole world is ripping the Celtics), but we’ll discuss that more tomorrow.
MLB Monday Best Bets
Angels First 5 Innings -110 vs. Red Sox: We gave these out first on “GES” last night with just a few books showing early lines, so monitor these in the morning (-110 is not a favorite in First 5 wagers with a 20-cent line – it’s technically pick-’em). The Red Sox are in a mini-anti-swagger spot after having a 4-game winning streak snapped in San Diego on Sunday. We’re also backing L.A. starter Jaime Barria (1-1, 1.96 ERA) vs. Tanner Houck (3-3, 5.48 ERA).
White Sox First 5 Innings +100 at Guardians: This is even more of a situational play with the Guardians coming off of playing on Sunday Night Baseball in New York (and a day-night doubleheader to boot) and traveling back home to host the White Sox, who come in with a little momentum with a 3-game winning streak after sweeping the Royals. Chicago hadn’t named a starter as of last night, making this line tenuous, but again it’s more of a play against Cleveland and starter Hunter Gaddis (0-1, 6.86 ERA).
