WNBA Best Bets:
Well, our first day back in the WNBA season was not particularly kind to us, as Chennedy Carter unexpectedly did not play for the Sky in their blowout loss to Phoenix, and Los Angeles apparently left their defense on the Olympic break because they gave up a 100 piece nugget to the Liberty. That’s why it’s called gambling, I guess. Nevertheless, we’re still up a dozen units on the season and will continue to push onward. There are three more games on Friday and I’ve got projections for them all, as well as a bet or two.

Here are the projections for Friday, August 16th:
Indiana Fever vs Phoenix Mercury
Ok, so, my fatigue theory for the Mercury didn’t really pan out yesterday; however, surely it will on a back-to-back after the Olympics, right? Well, the market sure thinks so, as this line has been driven up to Fever -4 with an Over/Under of 174. TSI has Indiana as a half-point favorite with a total of 177, not accounting for the back-to-back for Phoenix. I’d probably say the B2B is worth around 2 points to the spread and 3 to the total, so the current market makes sense to me. I’m going to stay away from a play on the side or total, but am going to fire on a Caitlin Clark prop.
Bet: Caitlin Clark Under 10.5Â assists (-110)
Atlanta Dream vs Seattle Storm
Atlanta was one of the more injury-riddled and inconsistent teams over the first stretch of the season, while Seattle started to really hit its stride after a clunky start to the season. Seattle is currently a 7.5-point favorite on the road with an Over/Under of 158.5, while TSI projects Seattle -6 with a total of 153.5. I really like an under here with Atlanta having the lowest-rated offense in TSI and Seattle having a top-four defense.Â
Bet: Under 158.5 (Play to 157)
Dallas Wings vs Connecticut Sun
Defensive ace Dijonai Carrington has been ruled out for this game for Connecticut, but they will still have DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas in the lineup, taking on the abysmal and wildly-inconsistent Dallas Wings as 5.5-point road favorites with an Over/Under of 162. TSI projects the Sun -9.5 with a total of 159.5. I’m going to back the Sun despite Carrington’s absence and stay away from the total.
Bet: Sun -5.5 (Play to -6.5)
