WNBA Best Bets for Thursday, July 6

Seattle Storm at Connecticut Sun -9, 164.5

The last time these teams played on June 20th in Seattle, the Sun won 85-79 but did not cover as eight-point favorites. Connecticut (12-5 SU, 8-8-1 ATS) ranks first overall in points in the paint, and the Storm rank last in opponent points in the paint, so it’s no surprise the Sun outscored the Storm in the paint 52-30 in that win. But this time around, the Sun won’t have their star center, Brionna Jones. Instead, Rebecca Allen has been starting since the injury, which has allowed the Sun to space the floor more.

The Storm (4-12 SU, 8-7-1 ATS) are 10th or worse in both offensive and defensive rating and have failed to cover four of their last five games. Connecticut hasn’t been covering and is coming off two tough losses to the Liberty and at the Aces. This is a good spot for them to get back on track after four days of rest, but the Storm hung in and covered last time and could very well do it again.
