Here are the MLB best bets today for September 14:

Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Guardians (-142, 8)

6:10 p.m. ET

The Rays have taken the first two games against the Guardians and will look to secure a series victory in tonight’s matchup. It will be Drew Rasmussen for the visitors and Joey Cantillo for the hosts.

Rasmussen has not pitched more than two innings in any of his appearances this season as he comes back from Tommy John surgery. He’s allowed seven runs on 16 hits in 19.1 innings of work. He allowed three of those runs in his first start on August 10, so he’s only allowed three earned runs since. He has 22 strikeouts against five walks and has thrown the ball really well.

Cantillo threw 99 pitches last time out while trying to finish off a perfect game against the White Sox. It was Cantillo’s longest outing of the season and he still has a 5.96 ERA with a 5.31 FIP, even with one run allowed on two hits with a 10/0 K/BB ratio against Chicago. I’m expecting him to struggle coming back into this one.

The Guardians are likely to be without Steven Kwan here, who has definitely struggled for a long period of time, but has remained the leadoff hitter. A lot of Guardians are struggling all at once yet again. There’s a good chance that the Rays can get the lead before turning it over to Tyler Alexander. Cleveland uses a lot of platoon advantages on offense to get lefty vs. righty and righty vs. lefty matchups, but Rasmussen is a righty and Alexander is a lefty, so it’ll be a little tricky to do early in the game.

Pick: Rays 1st 5 +110
